Fostering positive values through AI-supported self-regulated reading
in English in primary schools

OBJECTIVES

To promote students’ positive values and attitudes through developing school-based values-rich English reading materials.

To enhance students’ self-regulated learning skills for English reading and language proficiency.

To equip English teachers with skills and strategies to integrate useful self-regulated reading strategies into English lessons with the use of AI technologies.

To empower English teachers to apply the strategies learnt and develop school-based teaching and learning materials that foster students’ values education and self-regulated reading with the use of AI technologies.

To strengthen parents’ involvement in supporting self-regulated learning and reinforcing positive values at home.
EXPECTED NUMBER OF BENEFICIARIES
A total of 120 teachers including 20 PSMCDs, 20 English panel heads, 80 English teachers, 2,400 students and 1,200–2,000 parents of 20 local primary schools are involved in developing 40 sets of school-based teaching and learning materials integrated with positive values, self-regulated reading strategies, and AI.
